Back in California

As soon as school ended in Mexico, which was surprisingly late (middle of June), we headed back home to California. We arrived in Santa Cruz, where we rented a small apartment while we looked for a house and a school for the kids.

It was the middle of summer and the kids and us were so happy to be back near the beach, the forests and good friends.

Unfortunately, it became obvious really quickly that we could not afford to live in Santa Cruz because of the high cost of living. We were sad to have to say no to the wonderful people in Santa Cruz Waldorf School where we had already found old friends and 2 wonderful teachers for the boys. For me, saying no to the beach was the biggest deal, but the more we researched on the possibility of living in Auburn, the more we felt better about our decision. We found out that the price of homes was significantly less expensive and we would be able to continue to afford the tuition for now 2 children in Waldorf schools, which is expensive.
We started looking for homes and very quickly we found the perfect one for all of us, with lots of room for a vegetable and flower garden (YES!!) and also room for animals...maybe a small hobby farm in the future. It is a log home to top it all off and at the same time that we found our home, I was offered a Spanish teacher position at the kids school!!
I believe in signs and there were a lot of them that lead us to believe that we were in the right place!
Jose will be working from home and 1 or 2 times a week he will be traveling to the bay area and he is ok with that since intel has a small plane which will help with the commute.

Our new home in Meadow Vista!!!

The home has everything that we were looking for: it is small, cozy, it's a log home (that's a plus) a big deck and lots of space for a small farm!!!

It needs some love and TLC which we can provide!!

Here are some pictures of what the house looks like today, after the kitchen remodel...couldn't find any of the ones from when we first moved in....I guess I was a little busy between the move, the starting of school within only a couple of weeks of each other and the starting of a new job..;)

There's still some work to be done, but so far it feels like home and we all are soo happy living here!!

Angels keep circling around and guarding us as usual!
