Halloween y Dia de los Muertos

This year, we found a small family farm nearby that had a big pumpkin patch and we got to pick our pumpkins and gather them off the vine. Santiago was very excited to use his pocket knife and Daniel thought the pruning shears given to us at the entrance were better.

i'm so thankful to family farms like this, that are trying against the odds fighting to cultivate the earth, to take care of it the way our ancestors did. Happy to bring my whole family to enjoy a happy soil cared for and loved!!

Then it was time for pumpkin carving and delicious roasted pumpkin seeds!!!

And here's the whole family ready for Halloween!! Jose is Waldo, I'm Pippi Longstockings, Daniel is a host and Santi is a viking!!

Ready for the Pumpkin Path at school, quite magical!!

The whole campus gets transformed and there is a path illuminated by pupmkins and little paper bag lanters. As the children walk down the path, guided by an angel, they come to different skits where they get to meet the actors and receive little small gifts from them, simple things like bulbs, apples, a seed to plant in the spring, etc...

The day after Halloween, the good witch came one more year to exchange candy for watercolor paint! She really does know what Santiago and Daniel like. We hope she doesn't loose any more teeth from eating so much candy!!

At school also, there was a Halloween dog parade and cookie participated in it,,, can you guess what he's dressed up as?

Yes, a cow!!

the kids were very proud to show their beloved dog and cookie behaved so well...so proud of my 3 boys!!

Thank you Live Oak for this great event!!

At school, dona Barbara and I were in charge of Dia de los Muertos and it was a very special event for all of us. We set up an altar with pictures from loved ones that the children and parents brought, we made pan de muerto and I brought rice and beans to share while the students came to visit and share. I was a very important day for me, to be able to facilitate conversations about death and loved ones who are no longer with us. Just to create the space for children to talk about it, with love, joy and reverance! Thank you universe for guiding me to where I need to be at the right time!
